THE UNEXPECTED ENQUIRY

I often fish in an easily accessible area within easy walking distance of a car park. The consequence of this is I accept the company of many walkers, bird watchers, nature lovers, dog walkers, families walking, youngsters and very often mums with youngsters and wives enjoying a walk aged between mid 20’s to mid sixties.

I look approachable am softly spoken, I have mums and wives come and ask me about fishing, with increasing frequency since September 2009. Their main question is. How much does it cost? To start fishing as their child/children/boyfriend/husband wants to go. I have even noticed some husbands/boyfriends standing a hundred or so yards away from where I am fishing. After a good few years of buying, amassing and hording tackle I found I was totally unable to give an honest answer so after considerable thought, I decided to invest a few pounds and conduct a personal experiment, which may well be of help to a novice or an angler wanting to return to fishing.

I decided to tackle up as if I was a beginner who had been given some advice but who had a very restricted budget  this is what I bought .
